Nouryon has selected Green Bay, Wisconsin, US as the location for a new facility to produce its Expancel expandable microspheres. The expansion project, which was announced last year, strengthens the company’s position in expandable microspheres, which are used to make customers’ end products lighter and reduce costs.

Nouryon, a global specialty chemicals leader, announced plans to expand production capacity at its Levasil® colloidal silica manufacturing facility in Green Bay, Wisconsin, U.S., to meet increasing demand from the Construction and Packaging end-markets. Construction of the facility expansion in Green Bay, Wisconsin is planned to be finalized in the second half of 2022.

Nouryon has begun the engineering phase at its Expancel expandable microspheres plant in Wisconsin, US, moving one step closer to better serving its specialty additives customers in North America. Construction on the plant is expected to begin at the end of the year.

Nouryon has launched a new version of its Expancel® expandable microspheres targeted at specialty thin coatings applications. Expandable microspheres work as a filler and blowing agent to make products lighter and reduce overall costs. The new Expancel Extra Small Microsphere (XSMS) line brings additional benefits to specialty thin coatings applications, such as improving the printability of thermal paper labels, tickets and receipts, as well as filling and upgrading genuine or artificial leather without sacrificing volume.
