Nouryon cuts CO2 emissions through increased use of sustainable steam

Nouryon and other firms based at Chemical Park Delfzijl in the Netherlands will save up to 100,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year through the increased use of sustainable steam. The company will use the additional supply to make its salt production at the Delfzijl site more sustainable.

Partners cast off for study on zero-emissions hydrogen shipping

Sailing from Nouryon’s locations in Delfzijl, the Netherlands to Rotterdam on green hydrogen instead of gas oil; this sustainable option is being explored by a partnership of Nouryon, Europe’s largest inland shipping cooperative NPRC, and NPRC member firm Lenten Scheepvaart. With the study, they aim to demonstrate that zero-emission transport by water is possible.

Nouryon to double surfactants capacity in Sweden to support growing innovation pipeline

Nouryon will double capacity at its surfactants plant in Stenungsund, Sweden to support the growth of several existing products as well as new sustainable technologies for markets including oil and gas, lubricants and fuels, and asphalt. The €12-million expansion and upgrade project includes the installation of a new reactor and is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2021.

Nouryon investing to serve packaging, construction and transportation customers in North America

Nouryon has begun the engineering phase at its Expancel expandable microspheres plant in Wisconsin, US, moving one step closer to better serving its specialty additives customers in North America. Construction on the plant is expected to begin at the end of the year.

Nouryon issues first CiD license in China to leading PVC producer

Nouryon, a global specialty chemicals leader, has signed a five-year license agreement with Shaanxi Beiyuan Chemical Group Co., Ltd. (Beiyuan), a leading producer of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) in China. Under the agreement, Nouryon will license its innovative Continuous Initiator Dosing (CiD) technology to Beiyuan, and will supply its Trigonox® 187 proprietary CiD initiator, which will be produced at Nouryon’s new world-class site in Tianjin, China.

Nouryon-led consortium wins EU backing for pioneering green hydrogen project

A consortium comprising Nouryon, Gasunie and four other partners will receive an €11-million European grant towards their proposed green hydrogen project in Delfzijl, the Netherlands. The project is a front-runner among several hydrogen initiatives aimed at cutting carbon emissions and will be a significant milestone in the transition to a more sustainable, circular economy, the companies say.
