Nouryon, a global specialty chemicals leader, continues to adapt to increasing consumer preferences for greener cleaning products in North America. To meet demand from its customers in the cleaning market for products that are sustainable and comply with new US regulations, the essential solutions provider is launching several degreasers and cleaners with low-dioxane levels.

Joining the United Nations Global Compact, the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative. The Global Compact is an international initiative that brings companies together with UN agencies and labor and civil society organizations to support universal principles on human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption.

Nouryon has completed a project to more than double capacity for organic peroxides at its plant in Itupeva, Brazil. The expansion will add capacity for products including methyl ethyl ketone peroxides (MEKP) as well as dibenzoyl peroxide (BPO) pastes and waxes.

We are partnering with Sumitomo Chemical to include a new plant Sumitomo is building at its site in Oita, Japan. The new plant will supply a key raw material used for Nouryon’s Perkadox 14 organic peroxide. Perkadox 14 is an essential ingredient in the manufacture of many elastomeric products, including shoe soles, yoga mats and other rubber goods.

AkzoNobel’s Specialty Chemicals business is studying plans to expand production of high-purity vacuum salt at its Delfzijl site in the Netherlands. The project would increase output at the facility by around 25%.

AkzoNobel has been presented with this year’s Environment Responsibility Award from the European Chemical Industry Council (Cefic).

Nuon is to supply flexible energy to three of AkzoNobel’s chemical production sites in the Netherlands as part of an agreement to purchase a total net volume of 1.5 TWh. The deal will allow AkzoNobel to take advantage of flexibility in its chemical production and its own electricity generation to balance fluctuations in energy supply to optimize costs.
